Why d0 I l0ve music?.... I d0n t kn0w.  Guess I was b0rn t0 like it. It is in the genes.

I remember my father sings. Yes, s0 well when he was drunk. (May he rest in peace). But I think he was better 0ff playing guitar than singing.  

Hmm… did I t00k it fr0m him? Maybe….

Anyway, the p0int is, I l0ve music. I can t remember when I started t0, but when I learned h0w t0 sing during my childh00d, I can tell if 0ne s0ng is bad 0r n0t by just listening.

Thanks t0 my music teacher in my elementary days. My v0ice was enhanced when I became a ch0rale member 0f 0ur sch00l. We j0in c0mpeteti0ns with 0ther sch00ls and we w0uld always win.

0ne secret I want t0 share th0ugh. Back then I th0ught I sing well c0mpared t0 Alt0 and Ten0r ch0ir members because I w0uld, 0r 0ur s0pran0 gr0up, w0uld receive lesser c0rrecti0ns 0r reprimands 0r punishments during rehearsals. It was in my later years when I realize it was n0t true. In fact it is the 0ther way ar0und. In 0ne church ch0ir that I j0ined, I was 0bliged t0 j0in the alt0 gr0up because there were few 0f us that time. B0y, h0w difficult it was f0r me t0 mem0rize my tune, I kept singing the mel0dy which was sung by the s0pran0, my 0riginal v0ice. It was 0nly then that I began t0 admire m0re th0se wh0 are singing Alt0 and Ten0r v0ices . F0r me they sing better than s0pran0 because they are able t0 mem0rize and sing well varied tunes unlike s0pran0 which usually sing the mel0dy. It was then that I realize why th0se gr0ups gave much difficulty t0 0ur music teacher during my elementary days. We were m0re f0cused 0n playing than singing then.

These are just my 0bservati0ns and realizati0ns. I believe, each gr0up must g0 hand in hand in 0rder t0 have a great ch0ir gr0up. Each gr0up must d0 their best. It must be a team eff0rt.

This experience has made me admire ch0rale gr0up. I became a member and headed a music ministry in 0ur c0mmunity. But I especially like listening t0 pr0fessi0nal ch0rale. I watch 0ne when there is a perf0rmance in 0ur place. I w0uld always remember my elementary years and wish I was 0ne 0f the member 0f 0ne fam0us gr0up.

Well, thanks t0 the internet. Th0ugh it is best t0 see live performances, but since I leave in the pr0vince, at least I still get t0 see 0ne 0nline. I als0 b0ught cassettes and cd tapes.

The first gr0up that I saw live was when I was in High sch00l. It was The Tru0bad0rs. They sung at a church wedding. I was mesmerized by their v0ices.  Eventually, I w0uld always be mesmerized every time I w0uld watch 0ne live perf0rmance.
